    The water rights of an owner whose land borders a flowing watercourse such as a river or stream.

    Riparian rights belong to an owner whose land borders a flowing watercourse, such as a river or stream. The owner generally has the right to reasonable use of the water and access to it.

    Riparian rights apply to moving water, while littoral rights apply to standing water such as oceans and lakes.
