Example: You finish a self-paced course at home and pass its final. That can satisfy the course-completion step for your approved route. You still need DBPR authorization and a separate state-exam appointment. The school passing grade and retake policies should not be substituted for the state-exam rules.

What does computer-based mean at the center?
You answer multiple-choice questions on the testing center's system. The standard sales associate examination has 100 questions, a base time of 3.5 hours and a passing grade of 75 points. DBPR may include additional unscored pilot questions with additional time.

Can you test outside Florida?
Check the eligible locations offered for your Florida authorization in Pearson's scheduler, or contact the Florida program team. Do not book another state's exam just because you live there, and do not assume any local Pearson center delivers the Florida program. Confirm the exact exam and location before arranging travel.
What changes because the exam is in person?
Plan for travel, check-in and a supervised workstation. The booklet requires two valid signature IDs, including government-issued ID, and valid education proof or the accepted alternative for your route. Arrive 30 minutes before the appointment.
If your course credit is near its two-year expiry, check that date before booking. Your test authorization and course certificate have separate validity rules. A confirmation does not override an expired certificate.
For an unfamiliar center, check the building entrance, suite and parking. Use the address in the completed confirmation rather than a map listing saved months earlier.
